Bara Mangwa is a small village which came into tourism spotlight after the locals created the Bara Mangwa Farm House project. This village is close to the Teesta Bazar in Darjeeling under the Takling Gram Panchayat.
To get here, you can take one of the following alternatives given below:
- By Train: The NJP Railway Station in Siliguri connects the city to several cities across India. If you are journeying from Kolkata, then get in the Darjeeling mail which arrives at 10:00 pm in Kolkata. Once you reach NJP Station, take a taxi ride to Bara Mangwa as described below.
- By Jeep/Taxi: Get in a taxi going towards Darjeeling. As you are travelling through the National Highway no 31, which connects West Bengal with Sikkim, you will soon reach Teesta Bazar junction where the road forks into three parts. The road to the left goes to Darjeeling, the road to the right goes to Kalimpong and the straight road ahead goes to Sikkim. The road to the left is known as Peshok road and just before the road starts, another small road goes up through the left of the hills which goes for about 8 km. After climbing the steep road, you will reach Bara Mangwa.
- By Plane: Bagdogra airport located at Siliguri is has several planes available offered by many airlines. Some of them are:
Air India and Jet Airways has flights from Delhi, Guwahati and Kolkata to Bagdogra available, Go Air has daily flights to and from Delhi and Spice Jet operates flights from Kolkata and Delhi.
Once you reach Bagdogra airport, you can take a taxi ride as described above.

Tea Gardens: Being located in hills there are tea gardens here. The main tea gardens are the Peshok and Lopchu gardens. They are situated at just 15 km distance from Bara Mangwa.
Teesta Rangit: The Teesta River and the Rangit River come together at just 8km distance, also located 4 km from the Peshok road is the Teesta Rangit view point which is a popular tourist destination.
