- By Train: Situated at a distance of just 92 km is the North Bengalâ€™s most important railway station, the New Jalpaiguri Railway station in Siliguri. Most of the tourists can disembark at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station and take a bus from here to Mongpong.
- By Air: The Bagdogra airport in Siliguri town is the nearest airport situated at a distance of about 110 km. This airport is connected throughout the entire country and internationally as well. Several buses are available from the airport to Mongpong.
- By Bus: Siliguri is the major city in the entire North Bengal and as such it has several buses available that will take a tourist to Mongpong. The buses from Siliguri go through the Sevoke Road while passing through the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary. At some point during the travel, the hilly terrain will start and the tourist can see the Mongpong river to their right hand side. After a few kilometres ride uphill up to the Tiger Bridge, the tourist will go downhill straight to the plains of Mongpong.
Things to See and Do in Mongpong
Mongpong is situated in the Bhutan Bengal border. It is not a conventional tourist location and as such does not offer much in the way of sights to the tourists. However it is famous for having many picnic spots all around it and for offering panoramic views of the Teesta River Basin. On the Bengal Bhutan border the sightings of elephants is very common. In fact it falls in the Bengal- Bhutan-Nepal migratory route for the elephants. Mongpong is also known for the huge variety of migratory birds arriving here each season.
Take a walk along the Teesta: Taking a walk among the Teesta riverbank is a great activity for the tourists as the tranquil atmosphere of the Teesta River offers a splendid peace of mind and body. Also, alongside the Teesta riverbank, the tourists can also see the sprawling vista of the Teesta river basin.
Visit The Coronation Bridge: The Sevoke Coronation Bridge is one of the wonders of the British architecture. The visitors to Mongpong can take a fifteen-twenty minutes car ride to reach the Coronation bridge in Sevoke.
Visit the Sevoke Bazaar: The Sevoke Bazaar is a popular shopping area for the local residents. The visitors can reach the Bazaar through the Coronation Bridge and can easily be reached in about thirty-five to forty minutesâ€™ drive through the Coronation Bridge. The Sevoke Bazaar also offers excellent tea and it is recommended to taste the tea here.
Visit the Gorumara Forests: The Gorumara forests is situated at a distance of only 50 km away from Mongpong. As such, it is highly recommended for tourists to visit the Gorumara forests during their stay at Mongpong. The Gorumara forests is specially famous for the one horned rhinos in the forest, which have become extinct everywhere.
Visit the hill station of Kalimpong: The hill station of Kalimpong is can be reached by going on a two hour drive through Mongpong. Kalimpong is also a great place to visit while staying in Mongpong.
Birding in Mongpong: Many species of migratory birds come in Mongpong every year. A large number of those birds come at the nearby area of Gajoldoba and then visit the area of Mongpong. As such, Mongpong is an ideal birding spot.

Some small government bungalows and medium hotels are available here in Mongpong. However it is recommended to stay in the government bungalow due to its picturesque nature.
